  摘 要  

Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) has transformed network functions (aka middleboxes) from dedicated and tightly coupled hardware/software devices to composable software running on commodity cloud instances. Accordingly, cloud data centres become one of the major vendors for network maintenance and data processing. This emerging service offers a more economical and flexible solution for enterprises to build and maintain their network systems. The security and privacy issues, however, may thwart the enterprises' willingness to adopt this innovation since the middlebox may contain critical information regarding the network or its users. In this talk, I will introduce our efforts in building secure middleboxes to protect critical network infrastructure information and sensitive data in networks, respectively. I will describe how we integrate different secure techniques systematically to achieve our security goal while preserving a practical runtime performance. Last, I will discuss some open research questions in this area.


  报告人简介  

Xingliang Yuan is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Software Systems and Cybersecurity in the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, Australia. He is also the program director for Master of Cybersecurity at Monash. His research interests are in the areas of secure networked system, data security and privacy, and machine learning security and privacy. His research has been supported by Australian Research Council, CSIRO's Data61, and Oceania Cyber Security Centre. In the past few years, his work has appeared in quality venues in cybersecurity, computer networks, and distributed systems, such as CCS, NDSS, AsiaCCS, ESORICS, INFOCOM, TDSC, TIFS, TKDE, TPDS, etc. He is the recipient of the Dean's Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher in 2020 and the recipient of the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2021 at Monash. He is a co-recipient of the best paper award in ESORICS 2021, IEEE IDSC 2019, and IEEE MSN 2015.
